Forty
eight modules supported by four progressive methods
-
Picture counting
-
Multiple choice
-
Random
Times-tables
-
Grouped Times-tables
Each of these four methods is supported by three tested formats:
Ordered
Times Tables: Times tables are presented in an ordered format,
allowing practise of tables in an ordered way. Unlimited worksheets
ensure that the times-table can be tested and tested over and over again.
Random
Times Tables: A fresh set of unlimited Random Times-tables
worksheets with random questions are are presented. This allows the
child to build on speed and accuracy.
Inverse
Times Tables: Inverse operations ensures that the student
can secures the multiplication skills and move further by developing
fluency with inverse operations. When the student is able to manage this
with accuracy and speed the benefits are visible during problem solving
or Mental Arithmetic.
The Multiple Choice: builds
speed and accuracy through quick responses. Children who have secured
the earlier modules competently are working as quick as lightning to
gain speed! The sub modules are presented in both ordered and random
format. The Selected Times Tables module, gives the teacher the flexibility
to teach and assess the Times-Tables in groups of Times -Tables. For
example the 5 and 10 times Table or 0, 1 and 2 Times Tables etc. The
sub modules are presented in ordered, random and inverse operations.
Reporting:
Individual Progress Reports:
- Bar charts: Score and Time Takes for each module.
Class
Progress
Reports:
- Class score
- Curriculum level descriptions for each module
Incentive
Certificates:
- On completeion of each module: Gold, Silver Bronze certificate
- Certificate of excellence on gaining Gold in all the sub-modules
Description:
The
software introduces the novice to Times Table through the Picture
Module. Using Counting objects, children secure number counting
patterns. As they progress they are quickly entering number patterns
accurately and within the shortest possible time.
Age
Range:
6-11. Ideal for KS1 and KS2

How
to use this software?
If you are currently testing each student on their times-tables everyday
or once a week, then this software will make this activity redundant!
Each student can be tested everyday, but without you having to sit and
listen to the student chant tables.
At
set regular times, students use the software and practise their skills
and the monitoring and recording of their progress is recorded electronically.
You
teach the concepts that support a particular times-table collectively
to the class. Use the White-board to engage the students collectively
and then set individual targets. Set a time for each student to have
one-three attempts on a particular times-table. When the student has
completed the task, he/she will know immediately if the teachers expectations
have been met by viewing the bar graph.
At
the end of the day, you can view the "All-Users" report and
you will immediately see the names and scores of each student. You do
not need to sort the data, the software does that for you. You can view
the scores by firstname/surname or in ascending order or descending
order.
Set
new targets, set aside a regular time for testing and see the times-tables
skills develop rapidly
Benefits:
This
software is underpinned by an Integrated Learning System which
save the teacher the following time and resources:
1.
Marking Time -The questions are randomly generated, marked and
gives the teacher more direct classroom time.
2. Rapid assessment feedback, informs both the child and the
teacher of the areas of difficulties straight away. You need not send
data away for feedback. It is instantaneous! The system manages the
learning process, by marking the responses for each unit, provides
verbal feedback on performance, bar graph feedback for each student
and further gives the teacher an overall summary of the performance
of all logged users.
3. Logging Progress - Individual and all logged User progress.
These can be printed in various modes and by simply printing individual
records the teacher has a summary of the class progress. The teacher
does not have to export or import data from other packages.
4. Generating new questions - The system generates random questions
and therefore there isn't the need to write out new questions and
then photocopy the questions. Save on preparation time, paper and
resources.
5. The use of a classroom assistant or the teachers value added
direct teaching time, which was traditionally used to listen to the
children "chant" times tables or mark and log their responses. The
teacher now has more productive usage of classroom time.
6. Once Only Log-in of all the users. The Users are transferred
year on year by simply changing the teachers code. The teacher does
not have to log each student again.
The
benefits to the process of classroom learning and administration:
- 48
comprehensive modules that supports the National Curriculum and takes
each student through from Year 1 to Year 6.
- The
software provides instant feedback, unlimited random questions, unlimited
worksheets for every module, scores, bar graphs, level descriptors
and an administration system that generates a comprehensive report
of the attainments for each child in the school or class.
- Unlimited
worksheets with fresh random questions. This means the student can
keep on practising on fresh new worksheets.
- No
photocopying, no administration. Save time and school resources.
- The
teacher is in control of a student's progression.
- Once
the students names have been entered, their names do not need to be
re-entered again.
- Differentaites
the work of every pupil in the school.
- The
teacher can enter or delete names. Allows testing every single day
through 4 methods and supported by unlimited worksheets.
- As
the cohort progresses, you do not need to re-enter the names. Simply
change the teacchers name and the class list becomes available.
- The
software is highly robust and versatile and the whole school can be
logged onto the system.
- Student
can view his/her progress through a bar chart that informs the pupil
of the percentage score and the time taken to complete the exercise.
- Teacher
can gauge the class progress through the "All Users" page at any time.
- Bronze,
silver and gold certificates to ensure motivaton. This is a teacher
controlled feature.
- An
award of Excellence certificate can also be printed if the student
gains Gold awards for all the Times -Tables in a sub module.
- The
school can also take a strategic view of the progress of all students
and identify groups of students having common areas of challenges.
- Some
schools are choosing then to move to higher levels of Times-Tables
and go beyond the traditional 12 Times Tables.
- Use
the software, this year, next year and forever!

How
is the Software used at Rustington Primary?
At
Rustington Primary School, the use of the computer is encouraged all day,
and children in Jonathan Paines class, log onto the JellyJames software
everyday. Jonathan has set a classroom system where at specific times,
the first child on the register, works through the skills required at
his/her level, gains feedback and the second child then logs on. By the
end of the day, the whole class has had practice on the skills (Times-tables,
Clock or Number Bonds). Further, the learning sequence built into the
system, enables the pupil to know when to move onto the next skill which
is set by the desired expectation that Jonathan has set for each of his
pupil.
