Secures
fraction skills effortlessly using modules. The Fractions software is
designed to secure fraction skills using twelve established classroom
based methods:
Using
59 modules the teacher can provide interesting and varied range of activities
for the class and secure competency with fractions once the concept
has been taught.
Save
time setting questions, marking, scoring and recording progress.
The
software differentiates the work of each student and provide a progression
bar graph. It allows the teacher to focus on teaching the skill to the
student and setting desired expectations and targets from the student.
The
unlimited random questions means that the student can keep on perfecting
his skills! A quick, easy and fun way of learning and testing fraction
skills effortlessly. Unlimited worksheets generate unlimited random
questions. Questions marked, assessed and scored with reports.
Reporting:
Individual Progress Reports:
- Bar charts: Score and Time Takes for each module.
Class
Progress
Reports:
- Class score
- Curriculum level descriptions for each module
Incentive
Certificates:
- On completeion of each module: Gold, Silver Bronze certificate
- Certificate of excellence on gaining Gold in all the sub-modules.
Description:
Year
1 and Year 2 Recognition
of simple fractions (one whole, one half, one quarter...is introduced
using a fraction line. Writing of simple fractions is then undertaken
by the Picture to Fractions module, where students recognise 1/2,
1/4 as one half and one quarter. The Fraction of Objects and Fraction
of Problems modules then consolidates the skills fully by applying the
knowledge of one half and one quarter within a practical context. These
modules prepare the students upto Level 2
In
Year 3, the modules then extends to presenting questions involving
1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/10 using the Fraction line and Picture to Fractions(fractions
of shape)and Fractions of Numbers modules. Equivalence between fractions
is also learnt using the Equivalance module. Ordering fractions and
recognising fractions greater than one half is secured by the Larger
and Smaller module.
Year
4, half, quarter, eigth...third,sixth...,fifth, tenth, twentieth
fractions are introduced within all the modules. This approach gives
the teacher a varied set of established methods to allow Year 4 fraction
skills to be consolidated quickly. As the teacher does not have to mark
or set questions, the time saved can be used productively in ensuring
fluency.
In
Year 5, converting improper fractions to mixed numbers and visa
versa is learnt and practised using the Converting Fractions module.
The concept of numerator, denominator, ordering fractions can be consolidated
using the the Level 4 modules.(Level Descriptors informs you in which
year to cover the modules)
Year
6, higher level fractions, which brings the students to Level 5
can be achieved with the higher level modules with all eight methods
of learning, However, for students who wish to go beyond Level 5, the
Four Fraction Rules modules allows simple addition, subtraction, multiplication
and division skills to be developed.
The
software is versatile and robust and allows inclusion at all levels.
The unlimited worksheets, random questions ensure skills fluency.

How
to use this software?
Teach
the fraction concept and priciples and that you wish impart to the students.
Use the White-board to and engage the class collectively and
then set individual targets. Set a time for each student to have one-three
attempts on the particular fraction sub module. When the student has
completed the task, he/she will know immediately if the teachers expectations
have been met by viewing the bar graph.
Get
your testing done quickly and identify students with common areas of
challanges immediately.
If
you can allow a set skill time for students to use the software and
practise their skills, the monitoring and recording of their progress
is recorded electronically.
At
the end of the day, you can view the "All-Users" report and
you will immediately see the names and scores of each student. You do
not need to sort the data, the software does that for you. You can view
the scores by firstname/surname or in ascending order or descending
order.
Set
new targets, set aside a regular time for testing and see the fraction
skills competency developing rapidly
Benefits:
This
software is underpinned by an Integrated Learning System which
can save the teacher the following time and resources.
1.
Marking Time -The questions are randomly generated, marked and gives
the teacher more direct classroom time.
2. Rapid assessment feedback, informs both the child and the
teacher of the areas of difficulties straight away. You need not send
data away for feedback. It is instantaneous! The system manages the
learning process, by marking the responses for each unit, provides verbal
feedback on performance, bar graph feedback for each student and further
gives the teacher an overall summary of the performance of all logged
users.
3. Logging Progress - Individual and all logged User progress.
These can be printed in various modes and by simply printing individual
records the teacher has a summary of the class progress. The teacher
does not have to export or import data from other packages.
4. Generating new questions - The system generates random questions
and therefore there isn't the need to write out new questions and then
photocopy the questions. Save on preparation time, paper and resources.
5. Once Only Log-in of all the users. The Users are transferred
year on year by simply changing the teachers code. The teacher does
not have to log each student again.
What
are the benefits to the process of classroom learning and administration?
Testing
and learning through 12 modules which are supported by 59 sub-modules.
- Quickly test a fractionskill and gain instant feedback.
- Feedback
is logged and allows quick target setting.
-
Saves administrative time setting questions.
-
Gives instant feedback.
- The
student can view his/her progress through a bar chart that informs
him/her of the percentage score and the time taken to complete the
worksheet.
-
Teacher can gauge the class progress through the "All Users" page
at any time.
-
Teacher can print awards of attainment (An award of excellence certificate
can also be printed if the student gains Gold awards for all the fraction
sub modules.
- 59
comprehensive modules that supports the National Numeracy Strategy
and takes each student through from Year 1 to Year 6.

software provides instant feedback, unlimited random questions, unlimited
worksheets for every module, scores, bar graphs, level descriptors
and an administration system that generates a comprehensive report
of the attainments for each child in the school or class.
- Unlimited
worksheets with fresh random questions. This means the student can
keep on practising the particular fraction skills on fresh new worksheets.
- No
photocopying,no marking, no administration. Save time and school resources.
- The
teacher is in control of the student's progression.
- Once
the students names have been entered, their names do not need to be
re-entered again.
- Differentiates
the work of every pupil in the school.
- The
teacher can enter or delete names. Allows testing every single day
supported by unlimited worksheets.
- As
the cohort progresses, you do not need to re-enter the names. Simply
change the teacchers name and the class list becomes available.
